Alfred E.
Preller, 70, Wisconsin Rapids, died Sunday, following a heart
attack suffered a week earlier. Funeral services were held
Wednesday afternoon at Wisconsin Rapids at St. John’s
Evangelical and Reformed church. Burial was made at Wisconsin
Rapids. Masonic rites were conducted at the Taylor Funeral Home by
the Wisconsin Rapids Lodge 128, F. and A.M.
Mr. Preller
was born in Austria, April 15, 1888, and came to America in 1912,
settling in Brooklyn. He married Regina Wernstorfer on April 15,
1914 and resided in Clark and Marathon counties for many years. At
Abbotsford, he was manager of the Abbotsford Loan Corporation,
served on the Marathon county board of supervisors for 10 years,
was village assessor and census taker. He was a member of the
Abbotsford Lodge 298, F. and A.M. and the Eau Claire Scottish Rite
Consistory.
Mr. Preller
left Abbotsford and lived at Marshfield for a time and in 1956
moved to Wisconsin Rapids.
Surviving are his widow, three daughters, Mrs. Michael Brecken, Troy, N.Y.; Mrs. Edna Bauer, Marshfield; and Mrs. John Kadonsky, Milwaukee; two sons, Robert, Auburndale; and Richard, Green Bay; a half sister, Mrs. Henry Volrath, Greenwood; and 13 grand children.
